Replacement of Highway 102 Culverts over McIntyre Creek and Shebandowan Creek

Replacement of Highway 102 Culverts over McIntyre Creek and Shebandowan Creek

Description

JML Engineering worked with Taranis Contracting Group to provide Construction Engineering Services during the Construction of the McIntyre Creek and Shebandowan Creek Culverts on Highway 102 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. At both sites the new culverts were precast concrete culverts installed in sections and both required staged construction to maintain traffic flow.

JML Engineering completed designs for the Temporary Protection Systems, Temporary Flow Passage System, Culvert Erection Procedures and Inspection of the installed culverts for conformance.

The design work included using the geotechnical data provided in the Contract Documents to design the temporary protection systems for stage 1 and to design the crane pads for the installation of the culverts.

Periodic site visits during construction were completed to provide a Certificate of Conformance for each stage 1 temporary protection system.

During the erection of the concrete culvert elements full time inspection was completed to immediately respond to any issues during erection and certify the placement of each culvert element. Upon completion of all of the precast culvert elements a Certificate of Conformance was issued.
